Sunrise Rotary honors 33 local charities

Submitted by Libertyville Sunrise Rotary

Representatives from 33 local charities were honored recently at the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Charitable Giving Dinner at Lamb's Farm.

This dinner was held to celebrate the charities' hard work throughout the year and give a special donation to each of the chosen charities. Sunrise Rotary members look forward to this dinner to individually recognize each charity and the work it does all year long.

These organizations provide social support to the community due to their unwavering commitment of time and energy. In addition, the Sunrise Rotary gave out just more than $52,000 to the various charities to continue their work in the coming years.

The recipients were: Allen J. Lynch Medal of Honor Foundation, Beacon Place, Bear Magic, Bernie's Book Bank, Boys and Girls Club, Career Resource Center, Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind, Covers of Comfort, Dan's House of Hope, David Adler Music and Arts, Equestrian Connection, Free Spirits, Healthreach, I Plus, Lake County Center for Independent Living, Lake County Cares, Lake County Haven, LHS Best Buddies, LHS STARS Swim Team, LHS Topcats, LHS Interact Sioux Project, Libertyville Senior Center, Maristella, Mother's Trust, PADS Lake County, Reading Power, SEDOL, Veterans Affairs Commission, Waukegan To College, Willow House, Youth and Family Counseling, Youth Conservation Corps and Zacharias Sexual Abuse Center.

In the last year the Sunrise Rotary has donated $90,000 to local, national, and international charities. Anyone interested can join the club at its next fundraiser, which is the North Shore Wine Beer Cigar & Food Festival. This event will take place Saturday, Aug. 23, at Lamb's Farm in Libertyville.
