World Cup postcard: a street view

Editor's note: A suburban soccer coach is attending the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Today he shares another report.

Copacabana beach with 10,000 people or a local bar with seats in the street were our choices to watch Brazil's game. We choose the seats in the street and were not disappointed. The locals were all adorn with the country's colors from babies to grandmas and the street was decorated for a parade. We all stood as national anthems were sung and not a voice was silent.

Cheers rose every time Brazil came close and sighs of relief when Cameroon missed. Neymar sent the place into pandemonium with his goals and there were hugs for everyone and fireworks exploded in the street.

What a great experience sharing a few choppas with the locals while watching their national pastime. Next up: the view from Sugar Loaf and then the beach, and more soccer on TV.
