Wisconsin 37th in job creation last year
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin ranks 37th in private sector job creation and lags the national average in job growth.
That is according to initial data covering 2013 released Thursday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The numbers show Wisconsin had 1.2 percent job growth in 2013, ranking it 37th nationwide. The national growth rate was 2.1 percent.
Wisconsin was 35th in the previous report covering the 12-months ending in September.
The state created 28,141 private sector jobs in 2013. Gov. Scott Walker promised that 250,000 new jobs would be created by the end of this year, but he's not yet halfway there.
