Program seeks to boost visitors to Michigan Avenue

Free or discounted entertainment is being offered again in a bid to get more people to visit a stretch of Chicago's Michigan Avenue.

The Chicago Cultural Mile Association has led the drive to promote the somewhat lesser known section of Michigan Avenue from the Chicago River south to Roosevelt Road.

The initiative is focused on the second Friday of every month. That's when the special inducements are offered.

Among the offerings on Friday is a free concert at the Auditorium Theatre of Hector Berlioz' "Romeo and Juliet." The performance features the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus.

The second-Friday program began in May.
