Hersey entrepreneurs donate to Make-A-Wish Foundation

What began as a business venture evolved into a philanthropic opportunity for John Hersey High School's entrepreneurial students.

Under teachers John Blix and Dan Vesper's direction, students in the Introduction to Business classes created and operated two companies from the ground up. Student presidents Michael Buffa and Lenna Fotos, along with their classmates, sold Huskie Chocolate candies and drawstring backpacks second semester netting them a $1,000 profit. Instead of reinvesting the money, the Hersey business students donated the profits to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

On May 20, Ashley Nichele, a foundation representative, accepted the $1,000 check from the entrepreneurial students.
