Warren Wave wins at Pride tourney in Grayslake

Submitted by Steve Ostrowski

The Warren Wave Silver 10-under travel softball team celebrated with a first-place finish in the Silver Bracket at the Grayslake Pride Tournament on June 1.

The Gurnee-based squad went 1-2 in pool play. Two heartbreaking losses pushed the young Wave team to the Silver Bracket. In both losses this team had winning comebacks in the works, but both games were halted due to time limits and the game score reverted back to last completed.

Now with something to prove, the Wave entered bracket play on Sunday and took out their frustration with a 21-6 victory over Libertyville in the first game. In the Silver Bracket Championship Game, these young ladies kept the hot bats and solid defense going while beating a Deerfield team 11-1 and bringing home the first-place hardware.
