Drugged drivers crash with children in vehicle

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay police say two traffic crashes this week involved drivers who were high on heroin and had children in the back seat.

Witnesses called police when they saw a woman swerving through traffic Monday afternoon. She narrowly missed two pedestrians after driving onto a sidewalk before crashing her car. Capt. Jim Runge says the 22-year-old driver was overdosing on heroin. An empty syringe was found in her car. And in the back seat was an 18-month-old child who was turned over to protective services.

WBAY-TV reports a second crash Monday night involved a driver that police say was high on heroin. The 29-year-old woman crashed into a utility pole. Two children, ages 7 and 9, were passengers in the vehicle. Police say one child suffered minor injuries.
