The Illinois State Police will conduct commercial motor vehicle enforcement checks -- looking for unsafe trucks and rogue drivers -- in Cook, Will and two downstate counties June 3-5. Inspectors will check for mechanical deficiencies, unlicensed drivers, logbook violations and overweight trucks and trailers. "The careless operation of commercial motor vehicle drivers is one the greatest dangers on Illinois roadways," said Col. Mike Zerbonia. The 2014 National Road Check Enforcement program is the largest nationwide joint enforcement effort of its kind.
