Cougars keep rolling

CLINTON, Iowa - The Kane County Cougars kicked off a six-game road trip with a 7-1 victory over the Clinton LumberKings on Wednesday at Ashford University Field.

The Cougars (36-17) scored twice in the first inning, as Daniel Lockhart and Ben Carhart connected on back-to-back doubles and Jacob Rogers delivered an RBI single.

In the second, Shawon Dunston Jr. hit a bloop double Trey Matin doubled for a 3-0 lead.

Reliever Zak Hermans worked 3⅓ scoreless innings to earn his first win.

The series continues today at 6:30 p.m. when the Cougars send Tyler Skulina (3-1, 2.85 ERA) against Clinton's Jose Flores (1-0, 5.56).
