Daily Herald report

Maine Township Trustee Susan Moylan Krey has been appointed township assessor, after the recent death of longtime assessor Tom Rueckert.

The township board of trustees approved the appointment at its meeting Tuesday.

Rueckert, who served as assessor since 1985, died May 6 at the age of 73 after a long battle with lung disease.

Moylan Krey, a Des Plaines resident since 1977, has held the Certified Illinois Assessing Officer designation since 2002, officials said.

She was elected as township collector in 2005, then appointed as trustee two years later when Carol Teschky took over as supervisor after the retirement of Bob Dudycz. Moylan Krey was later elected as trustee in 2009 and 2013.

The board has 60 days to fill Moylan Krey's trustee seat.
