Softball: Fox Valley roundup Friday, May 23

Waubonsie Valley 1, South Elgin 0: The Storm (17-13, 10-9) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end in this Upstate Eight Valley contest. Sam Helton was 3-for-3 for South Elgin and Taylor Rees had a double, Paige Allen suffered the loss in the circle, allowing just 6 hits.

St. Edward 10, Guerin 0: Lindsay Zdroik struck out 11, didn't walk a batter and allowed just 1 hit in 4 innings to lead the Green Wave (16-12, 8-8) in the program's final game as a member of the Suburban Christian Conference. St. Edward's softball team also became the final St. Edward athletic team to compete in an SCC event. Jasmine Deleon (3-for-4, RBI), Zdroik (3-for-4), Ryann Scully (2-for-4, 2B, 3B), Allison Stratman (2-for-3, 3 RBI), Kelly Theriault (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Jackie Boydston (2B, RBI) led the St. Edward offense.

Huntley 11, Johnsburg 0: Megan Baczewski was 3-for-3 with a double and 4 RBI and Tamara Funke hit a 2-run home run to help Huntley (19-14) to a Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Taylor Stone also went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Red Raiders and Kateri Conklin threw her second straight five-inning no-hitter for the win in the circle.

St. Charles East 13, Larkin 0: The Royals (4-24, 2-16) got just singles from Bella Aguinaga and Jordan Dick in this Upstate Eight River loss. Emily Rojo took the loss in the circle.

St. Charles North 5, Streamwood 1: Jessica Daley had a double and Melissa Malcom drove in the Sabres' only run in this UEC River loss. Kaitlyn Hedger took the loss for Streamwood (4-18, 3-16), striking out 5 and walking none.

Hampshire 9, McHenry 8: Becca Hurst was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI and Peyton DeChant had a 2-run triple as the Whip-Purs (21-13) nipped FVC Valley champion in a crossover. Ellie Lapi drove in 3 runs for Hampshire, while Sara Finn had 2 hits and Aly Snider drove in 2 runs. Haley Widmayer struck out 3 and didn't issue a walk in earning the win.

Jacobs 5, Grayslake North 2: Alyssa Lach was 3-for-3 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI as the Golden Eagles (16-13) won this FVC crossover. Teaghan Richman had a double for the winners and Kelsey Cummings drove in a run. Kelsey Peters struck out 7 and didn't walk a batter to earn the win.

Bartlett 2, West Chicago 1: Kayla Haberstich (2-for-4) drove in Katie Fornoff (3B) with the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead Bartlett (25-7, 14-5) to an Upstate Eight Valley win. Sydney Johnson and Alexandra Morales each had RBI for the Hawks. Holly Pagan (17-5) allowed just 3 hits with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks to earn the win.
