Kaitlyn Wold's breakout softball season got even better Friday.
The senior belted a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh to score Caityln Moran from first base and give Grant a 5-4, walk-off win over Carmel in nonconference action.
Bri Dreschler's grand slam - her ninth home run of the season - staked Grant (22-9) to a 4-0 lead after one inning.
Despite giving up a pair of homers, Moran went the distance in the circle for the Bulldogs, striking out nine. Wold, a two-year starter at second base, went 3-for-4 to hike her batting average to .444.
Libertyville 15, Deerfield 2: Tayler Oberman (2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Jessie Lauret (double, 3 RBI) each went 3-for-3 for the Wildcats in their regular-season finale.
Libertyville (26-8) also got 2 hits apiece from Andi Katz (double, 4 RBI) and Jamie Stevens (double, RBI), while Madi Dembinski also contributed a double. Winning pitcher Haley Alban threw 3 scoreless innings.
"Great win for the team," coach Elissa Wisniewski said. "We received contributions up and down the lineup and did a great job stepping up on defense and shutting down innings when we got the lead."
