The Mundelein Farmers Market will open for the season from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 13, at the new Village Hall Plaza, Hawley Street and Chicago Avenue. The market is part of the Illinois Department of Agriculture "Where Fresh Is" marketing program, and features: fresh fruits and vegetables; baked breads and muffins; meats, cheeses and eggs. More than 20 vendors will participate this year. Opening day will begin with a ribbon cutting and the singing of the national anthem. Face painting and a balloon artist will be on hand for kids and there will be a market bag giveaway. Doug Blake will perform from 4 to 6 p.m. The market will be open every Friday through Oct. 10.
