Chicago airports expect 1.5M holiday travelers

Chicago aviation officials estimate more than 1.5 million travelers will go through the city's airports this Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The Chicago Aviation Department released numbers on Wednesday. They say about 1.1 million passengers will travel through O'Hare International Airport from Thursday through Tuesday. That passenger traffic is comparable to the same period last year.

O'Hare's busiest day is expected to be Thursday, with about 230,000 passengers.

Meanwhile officials expect a 3 percent increase in passengers at Midway International Airport compared with last year. They say about 360,000 passengers are expected from Thursday through Tuesday. The busiest day is expected to be Friday, with nearly 72,000 passengers.
