Hanover Park trustees have informally agreed to open up a commuter parking lot to shoppers of Ontarioville Road businesses. The move allows free parking on the weekends and from 3-11 p.m. on weekdays in the 48-space lot just east of the Hanover Park Animal Care Center, 1920 Ontarioville Road. The hours accommodate Metra commuters and businesses who pushed for an area for overflow parking, officials say. "We want to ensure that any commuters still have the space for the weekday," Community and Economic Development Director Shubhra Govind said. The village will install signs letting drivers know when and where to park.
