Firehouse Pizza to host memorial cancer research fundraiser Tuesday

Firehouse Pizza & Grill, 17 N. Fourth St., Geneva, will host a fundraiser for leukemia and lymphoma research Tuesday, May 20, when 10 percent of all sales for the day will be donated to Friends of Jason Gould Inc. for leukemia and lymphoma research.

The Elburn resident was a 33-year-old fifth-grade teacher in the Oswego school district when he died in 2006 from a viral complication following a transplant for leukemia. His friends and family have continued the dream of Jason to find a cure and develop treatments.

The organization has now raised more than $100,000 for research and has been able to see their money directly save cancer patients lives through the research of Dr. Rob Baiocchi from the Ohio State University Cancer Research Center. With the help of the fundraisers, his team was able to develop a new treatment for lymphoma of the brain.

Firehouse Pizza has generously offered to help raise money for Baiocchi's research for 2014. Restaurant hours Tuesday are 10 a.m. until midnight. Carry out, delivery and a few tables are available.
