Teen shot and killed in Aurora

An 18-year-old man was shot and killed while sitting on a porch on Aurora's near east side Wednesday evening. The shooting, which happened just after 7 p.m. on the 200 block of North Smith Street, does not appear to be random, police said in a news release.

The victim was sitting on a porch with a 31-year-old man when a cream-colored, four-door vehicle pulled up. A gunman exited and opened fire, hitting both men, police said. The shooter is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male between 16 and 20 years old. He ran west on Claim Street after the shooting. Both men were taken to separate nearby hospitals. The 18-year-old, who is not being identified pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at 7:43. The 31-year-old is in stable condition.
