Cause of Barrington Hills barn fire unknown

Authorities are investigating the cause of Barrington Hills fire Thursday night in an abandoned barn, according to a news release. At 10:54 p.m., the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded to reports of a fire in the 10300 block of Haegers Bend Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered that the two-story barn was partially collapsed in addition to being on fire.

It took 20 minutes to bring the fire under control and fire personnel declared the fire extinguished at 12:25 a.m.

Nobody was injured in the blaze that drew responses from 33 fire personnel.

Assisting the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District were firefighters from Carpentersville, East Dundee, Huntley, Barrington-Countryside, Fox River Grove, Cary and Crystal Lake.
