Barrington (21-6, 9-2) scored 6 runs in the third inning as pitchers Anthony DeLaurentis (5 IP) and reliever Nima Niahi (2 IP) tossed a combined 4-hit shutout in a 9-0 decision against host Conant on Wednesday in Mid-Suburban League baseball.
Luke Johnson finished 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI for the MSL West leaders. Shane Yorton, Jake Petersen and Casey Dodge had 2 hits apiece, and Jake Coon drove in 2 runs.
Dan Modelski had the only extra-base hit for Conant (8-17, 3-8), a double.
Rolling Meadows 4, Prospect 3: The host Mustangs did all their scoring in the bottom of the sixth, then managed to protect the lead - barely - as the Knights scored twice in the top of the seventh in MSL action
Lucas Karz hit a solo homer for Prospect (14-8-1, 7-4), while Grant Miller doubled and Tom Flahaven had a pair of singles to account for the 3 hits allowed by Meadows' Erik Schurtz, who got a complete-game victory. Schurtz is 6-1 with an ERA of 1.71.
Schurtz and Bob Suchecki had 2 hits each to lead Meadows (10-12, 7-4) at the plate.
Schaumburg 4, Fremd 1: The Saxons did all of their scoring in the sixth inning to top the visiting Vikes (10-11, 5-6) and remain 1 game behind West leader Barrington.
Michael Fan had the big hit in the sixth for Schaumburg, a 2-run single.
Brendan Beck earned the decision for the Saxons (12-4, 8-3). he struck out eight and allowed 4 hits.
Hersey 10, Wheeling 3: Brett Harris finished 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI as visiting Hersey (10-12, 6-5) bashed out 12 hits to make a complete-game winner of Tommie Pearson (7 hits, 7 strikeouts).
Brenden Spillane hit a solo homer for Wheeling (10-16, 2-9), and Christian Hubbard had 2 hits.
Other big Hersey contributors included CJ Reichel (2-for-3, double, walk), Andrew Segalla (2 hits) and Joe Silva (2 RBI).
St. Viator 6, St. Patrick 3: Joe Brandt doubled and drove in 2 runs, and Matt Prazuch was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored to help the Lions win an East Suburban Catholic Conference game on the road.
