Elk Grove senior Brooke Barges belted a homer and went 3-for-4 as the host Grenadiers topped Hersey 8-4 in softball on Tuesday.

Melissa Picchi (2-for-4) also had 3 RBI for the Grens, who improved to 20-3 and 7-2 in the Mid-Suburban East softball standings, where they own a half-game lead over Buffalo Grove (13-8, 7-3).

Senior Megan Eul (14-2) earned the win over freshman Kaitlyn Denten, who had a home run for Hersey (8-12-1, 2-7).

Cassie Zouras (2-for-4), Payton Anderskow (2-for-3, double) and Jessica Schmiederer (2-for-4) were multiple hitter for the Huskies.

Hoffman Estates 8, Palatine 6: The host Hawks (12-10, 4-6) were led on offense by Jordyn Fera (3-for-4, double), Kaileen Hendle (2-for-3), Tracy Osimowicz (2-for-4), Caitlin Farina (2-for-4) and Sam Acosta (2-for-3, triple, walk).

Winning pitcher Charlotte Allan (4-8) went the first 5 1/3 innings and struck out six with 1 walk while Osimowicz finished the final 1 2/3 innings with 1 strikeout and 1 walk.

Erin Davis and Jules Udoni shared mound time for Palatine (7-18, 2-7) which was led on offense by Nora Walsh (2-for-4) and Katie Angelaccio (2-for-4).

Prospect 16, Rolling Meadows 9: A total of 25 runs and 31 hits were pounded out as host Prospect improved to 5-16 and 3-6 in the MSL East.

Emma Gilhooly (3-for-5, 5 RBI) had 2 doubles for Prospect and winning pitcher Delilah Malczewski (5-7) had one while going 4-for-5 with 4 RBI.

"Emma Gilhooly and Delilah Malczewski were awesome at the plate," said Prospect coach Jim Adair.

Meghan Doyle also went 2-for-5 for the Knights.

"The fans certainly saw some offense," Adair said. "Both teams hit the ball well and it was a fun game to watch."

Maddie Morgan (3-for-5, double, 2 runs, 2 RBI) and Chloe Prodanovic (2 for 5) were multiple hitters for Meadows (4-17, 1-8).

Teammates Lane Winkler and Grace Skorin also had doubles.

"I give a lot of credit to the Mustangs," Adair said. "They kept fighting back when a lot of teams would have quit.

"And I give a lot of credit to my own team for answering with our runs. That's something we've been harping on all year with our girls."

Lane Tech 10, Wheeling 9: Junior Nikki Mikosz belted a grand slam to center field in the fourth inning and went 2-for-4 with a double and 5 RBI for the host Wildcats in the nonconference game.

Lauren Hart added a double for the Wildcats (3-18).

Maine West 13, Highland Park 3 (5 inn.): Abbey Herling (4-for-4, 3 doubles, 3 runs, 2 RBI) Monica Liwag (2-for-3, triple, doubles, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Kayla Pociejewski (2-for-4, home run, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Erin Feldkamp (2-for-3) and Erin Ross (triple) led the Warriors' offense in the CSL North game.

Freshman Grace Feldkamp struck out five as the winning pitcher for West (10-11, 5-2).
