Chicago police say a 14-year-old girl was shot to death and another girl wounded during an altercation that took place in the city's Back of the Yards neighborhood.
Chicago police spokesman Thomas Sweeney says the dead girl, whose name hasn't been released, was with a group of teenagers on a sidewalk when an altercation occurred Monday. Someone in the group pulled a gun and started shooting.
The girl was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, where she died.
The second girl was wounded in the arm and taken to St. Bernard's Hospital, where she was reported in stable condition.
Police say no one has been arrested in the shootings.
