Wauconda Unit District 118 students and staffers are collecting used shoes for a contest. The shoes will be reused or recycled. The drive began Monday and ends Friday. Collection boxes are at each school. The school that collects the most pairs of shoes per student will receive a trophy. Wauconda village officials, the United Partnership for a Better Community, and the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County also are participating.
