Mundelein's Turner turns away all 15 in 5-inning perfect game

Adam Turner was simply perfect.

Mundelein's senior right-hander retired all 15 batters he faced in throwing a five-inning no-hitter, as the Mustangs beat visiting Lake Forest 12-0 in a North Suburban Lake Division game Tuesday.

Turner struck out five.

Mundelein (17-0, 3-0) got 2 hits apiece from Nick Brune (double) and Luke Peterson, while Luke Adams also had a double.

Warren 1, Stevenson 0: Andrew Hill turned in a dominant pitching performance for the Blue Devils.

The junior fired a 1-hit shutout in a North Suburban Lake Division thriller.

Hill faced the minimum 21 batters.

Warren (11-4-1, 3-2) was led offensively by Brian Lavery (2-for-3, RBI), Dom Cuevas (1-for-3, run, stolen base), Ben Dinter (1-for-3) and Sean Hannigan (1-for-2, stolen base).

Stevenson fell to 0-3 in the NSC Lake.

Hampshire 5, Grayslake North 4: The Whip-Purs scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Knights a heartbreaking loss.

Merrick Gentile was 3-for-3 with a double for Grayslake North in the Fox Valley Conference game. The Knights got 2 hits apiece from Alex Alvarez and Ryan Gross. Dylan Foster doubled as well.

Vernon Hills 10, North Chicago 0: Brian Schrimmer threw 4 solid innings in the North Suburban Prairie contest, allowing no runs on only 1 hit while striking out 11.

Tom Earhart had 3 doubles and Nick Conrad added a pair of 2 hits for Vernon Hills (4-2 NSC Prairie). Ryan Erchinger, Justin Falk, Ben Geren, Mickey Skinner (double) and Stephen Levine all contributed offensively with hits and RBI.

Lakes 10, Round Lake 0: Jeremy Mackey (2-0) pitched 6 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits, striking out seven and walking two in the North Suburban Prairie game. He did not allow a runner to reach second base.

Joe Sisk was 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and run scored for Lakes (5-6, 2-1).

Ryan Newman was 2-for-2 for Round Lake (0-5 NSC Prairie).

Wauconda 5, Antioch 3: Jake Grobelny and Tyler Meyer both doubled for the host Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie game.

Ben Peterson struck out 11 in earning the win, helping Wauconda improve to 4-9 and 4-0 in the division.

Sam Smithson went 2-for-3 for Antioch (2-3 NSC Prairie), and Ben Gutke had a double for the Sequoits.

Johnsburg 3, Grayslake Central 1: The Rams dropped their fifth in a row to fall to 8-8 and 3-4 in the Fox Valley Conference.

Grayslake Central starter Justin Guryn tossed 4 innings, giving up 1 earned run while striking out six. The Rams made 5 errors and stranded 7 base runners.

Jay Hoffman continues to be a bright spot offensively, coach Troy Whalen said, as the junior second baseman had 3 hits to raise his batting average above .400. Mike Stone added a triple.
