Aurora to honor UConn's Boatright

The city of Aurora plans a ceremony to honor University of Connecticut champion basketball player Ryan Boatright.

The welcome-home ceremony is planned for Saturday at the Paramount Theatre. Boatright is a member of the Huskies team that won the NCAA tournament over Kentucky last week. He's a graduate of East Aurora High School.

The celebration is open to the public and free of charge. It starts at 1:11 p.m. Organizers say he'll be available to take pictures at the end of the program.

Boatright says coming home to Aurora “can encourage a lot of kids to pursue their own dreams.”

Organizers say Boatright averaged 20 points per game when he played for East Aurora and was named Mr. Basketball of Illinois.
