Behan powers Carmel victory

Jenny Behan blasted her seventh home run of the season, doubled and drove in 4 runs, as Carmel Catholic's softball team pounded host Marian Central 15-2 in a five-inning nonconference game Thursday.

Emma Bartz also had a big game for the Corsairs, going 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI. Carmel's Kathleen Felicelli went 3-for-5 with a double and 3 runs scored.

Winning pitcher Mia Dicara threw 4 innings, allowing no earned runs and 5 hits.

Grayslake Central 5, Crystal Lake Central 4: Theresa Curtis' fielder's-choice RBI in the bottom of the 10th lifted the Rams to the Fox Valley Conference win.

Grayslake Central received 3 hits from Katie Strickland and two apiece from Shelby White (double), Juliana Frusolone, Skyler Long and Brittany Brown. Long, Brown and Brandy Heraty also had an RBI.

Lake Zurich 4, Stevenson 3: The Bears spoiled the Patriots' home opener and kept coach Larry Friedrichs stuck on 499 wins, as they scored twice in the sixth.

Maria Schroeder hit an inside-the-park home run for Lake Zurich, which improved to 9-3 and 2-2 in the North Suburban Lake, despite getting outhit 7-4.

Bears shortstop Carlee Parsons ended the game by catching Dana Morgan's line drive and doubling the runner off first base for a double play. The visitors also had an inning-ending double play in the sixth.

Bears lefty Olivia Schneider pitched 5 innings in earning the win, while Susie Rubiano threw the final 2 for the save.

Lexi Yonkovic doubled for Stevenson (3-10, 0-3), and Morgan had a 2-run single in the fifth that put the Patriots on top 3-2.

Antioch 18, Round Lake 3: Jessica Tyrell homered for the second day in a row, and Hannah Skoog went 3-for-5 with 2 RBI for the Sequoits in the North Suburban Prairie game.

Antioch (4-5, 2-2) received 2 hits apiece from Tyrell (2 RBI), Jillian Foote (double, 3 RBI), Jessica Pedersen (double, RBI), Sage Keyes, Madeline Hart (2 RBI), Mackenzie Thomas and Ashley Stephens (double, 3 RBI).

Hannah Cook earned the win, striking out six.

Zion-Benton 3, Mundelein 2: Jamie Hemmer homered for the visiting Mustangs, who fell to 7-5 and 1-2 in the North Suburban Lake, as the Zee-Bees scored in the bottom of the seventh.

Lauren Fairweather was 2-for-3 with a double for Mundelein.

McHenry 3, Grayslake North 0: Kayla Switalla and Mariah Gentile had the only hits for the Knights in the Fox Valley Conference game.
