Scott swats, and Warren wins

Megan Scott had herself a day Wednesday.

Warren's senior slugger hit 2 home runs - her third and fourth of the season - along with a double and drove in 6 runs, as the Blue Devils defeated visiting Stevenson 10-0 in a North Suburban Lake Division game that ended in the fifth inning.

With the victory, Warren improved to 7-3 and 3-0 in the division.

Jodie Hurd also homered, driving in 2 runs, while Jana Wagner allowed 4 hits over 5 innings.

Stevenson (3-9, 0-2) got a double from Dana Morgan. The Patriots have their home opener today against Lake Zurich.

Libertyville 5, Lake Zurich 4: The visiting Wildcats kept their perfect record intact, as Andi Katz had a triple and 2 RBI.

Taylor Zoellick doubled and knocked in a run for Libertyville (13-0, 3-0), which had only 4 hits against Olivia Schneider.

Winning pitcher Haley Alban allowed 7 hits and 3 earned runs, striking out four and walking a pair.

Lake Zurich (8-3, 1-2) got a home run from Amanda Guercio, who went 2-for-2 with a pair of sacrifices.

Maria Schroeder tripled for the Bears, while McKenna Larson and Mallory Parsons doubled.

Wauconda 8, Antioch 5: The Bulldogs remained undefeated, as Kayla Wedl struck out seven and didn't walk a batter again, while also helping herself at the plate again.

Wedl, who allowed 3 earned runs, homered and doubled, while driving in 4 runs and scoring twice. Her performances helped Wauconda improve to 10-0 and 2-0 in the North Suburban Prairie.

The Bulldogs - who hosted the game because Antioch's field was not playable - also got 2 hits apiece from Taylor McCarthy (2 runs) and Paige Motley (RBI). Freshman Sarah Ricci had a triple.

Antioch (2-1) got a home run from Jessica Tyrell in the fifth and finished 2-for-3. Hannah Skoog was 2-for-4 with a triple for the Sequoits.

Mundelein 8, Lake Forest 4: Jamie Hemmer nearly did it again.

Five days after no-hitting Highland Park in her first start of the season, the junior pitched a 1-hitter, as the visiting Mustangs captured the North Suburban Lake contest.

Hemmer walked eight, but struck out eight and did not allow an earned run. The only hit she gave up was in the third inning.

Mundelein (7-4) was led offensively by Amanda Diaz (triple, 2 RBI), Maria DeVito (triple) and Maggie Mahar, each of whom went 2-for-4. Maddie Zazas had a double and 2 RBI.

Crystal Lake Central 8, Grayslake North 3: The host Knights never led in the Fox Valley Conference game.

Grayslake North received 2 hits apiece from Kayla Switalla, Jessica Vaughn (2 RBI) and Jenny Moore. Each girl doubled.

Vernon Hills 16, North Chicago 0: Anna Cirone went 4-for-4 with a double, 3 RBI and 2 runs scored for the host Cougars in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

Vernon Hills (2-10, 1-2) received 3 hits apiece from Jess Salerno (2 RBI) and Nikki Goldstein (RBI, 3 runs), while Sami Saliba was 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI.
