A lot of spending with little gained

The president took a victory lap because his administration is now estimating that 7.1 million people have signed up for Obamacare and they have reached their goal. Maybe?

Of course, no insurance policy goes in force until the premium is paid, and the administration continues to say that they don't have any figures on how many people have actually paid their premiums. But just for fun let's say it really was 7.1 million. So out of the 47 million uninsured, they have signed up 7.1 million or roughly 15 percent for this mandatory health insurance program? Well, no, actually it is estimated that only about one-third of the people who signed up were in fact part of the 47 million who were uninsured, which would bring that figure down closer to 5 percent.

Thus far the administration has spent $3.6 billion setting up a health care system that has provided insurance for 5 percent of the uninsured. Party!
