National Volunteer Week is April 6-12, a great time to thank our community volunteers. The Naperville Park District staff is grateful to the thousands of adults and youth who give generously of their time and energy to coach youth sports teams, greet visitors at the Alfred Riverwalk Community Center, pull weeds, pick litter to beautify our parks, and much more.
Volunteer opportunities continue to expand, with new roles, such as Garden Plot Ambassadors and Adopt-A-Park coordinators and new events, including the May 10, 2014 Spring Fever Reliever. Those who have not yet volunteered at the Park District are invited to check out the current opportunities at http://www.napervilleparks.org/volunteer-with-the-naperville-park-district.
Volunteers provide a significant boost to the District's budget. For example, the 89,961 hours donated in 2013 are valued at approximately $2,028,620 in equivalent staff time. And beyond financials, volunteers bring enthusiasm, talent and creativity to benefit both people and parks.
Hats off to the 3,000+ individuals who volunteered for the Naperville Park District in the past year. We look forward to continuing to partner with you and with future volunteers in our mission to enrich the quality of life for our community.
