Grayslake C. tops D-C

Grayslake Central baseball coach Troy Whalen called Thursday's conditions "more suited for football," but his Rams stayed hot nonetheless.

Freddie Landers and Sam Nozicka each had 2-run doubles during a six-run second inning, as Grayslake Central rallied to beat visiting Dundee-Crown 7-2 in the teams' Fox Valley Conference opener.

Kyle Clark also had a double for the Rams, who trailed 2-0 early. Jay Hoffman and Anthony Fitzgerald each had a pair of singles for Grayslake Central (5-2), which won its fourth game in a row.

Russ Lundius earned his second win of the season by throwing 5 innings. He allowed only 1 earned run and struck out five. David Llorens pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief, striking out five.
