Garbett leads Grayslake Central victory

Quin Garbett scored twice, as Grayslake Central's girls soccer team defeated Antioch 5-1 in nonconference action Thursday.

The Rams built a 3-0 lead in the first half. Emily Werfel, Karleen Gomez and Kayley Larson also scored for Grayslake Central (5-1). Carson Sparkman and Gomez each had 2 assists.

Rams goalkeeper Rachel Effa had 7 saves.

Antioch fell to 2-2.

Evanston 2, Stevenson 0: The Patriots trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Maddy Boutros made 3 saves in net for Stevenson (1-2). Patriots coach Kevin Heffernan said his team had four starters out due to illness and injuries but played a hard-fought game nonetheless.

Warren 0, Mundelein 0: The North Suburban Lake Division opener ended in a draw.

Keeper Liz Carrano made 2 saves in goal for Warren (1-1-1).

Johnsburg 3, Grant 1: The nonconference loss dropped the Bulldogs' record to 2-3.
