Owner of scrap yard charged with vehicle theft
The owner of a Chicago scrap yard was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle days after police discovered dozens of stolen autos on his property, authorities said.
Aaron Adelman, who is listed as the owner of Adelman's Resource Solutions on the company website, appeared in court Wednesday. He was released on a $10,000 bond.
Cook County prosecutors said police were called to the yard Monday after the owner of a van tracked the stolen vehicle to the site. "Numerous stolen vehicles" were found.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported Adelman's Resource received a city property tax break in 2012 in return for a $2.5 million expansion, at a cost of $162,000 over a dozen years. An alderman says he will try to recoup the tax savings if the charge against Adelman is true.
