An Elgin man is facing charges in separate thefts, police said Tuesday.

Thomas J. Williams, 28, of the 900 block of Bode Road, is charged with felony counts of theft and burglary.

Williams was arrested Monday. Elgin police investigating a theft of construction materials at a business on the 200 block of Willard Avenue spotted a vehicle that matched the description of an auto seen leaving the crime scene, authorities said in a news release.

Investigators later learned he was responsible for the theft and a burglary on the 800 block of Bode Road, police said. Unspecified gas-powered machines were stolen, police said.

Williams is scheduled to appear in Cook County court today.
