MACOMB, Ill. -- It will cost about 3 percent more to attend Western Illinois University this fall.

The school's board of trustees approved a 2.99 percent increase for undergraduate students and a 2.97 percent increase for graduate students. The increases approved Friday affect tuition, fees and room and board. The price is guaranteed for four years for students entering WIU's Macomb campus in the fall.

Students taking a 15-hour semester will pay about $8,600 a year. Graduate tuition for a 24-hour year will cost about $7,600.

Double-occupancy room and board costs will rise $260 to $9,450. Fees will rise about $115 to about $2,650.

Trustees also approved a 13-percent increase in student health insurance to $934 a year.
