Streamwood has a winning day

Streamwood's boys volleyball team continued its hot start to the season Saturday by going 3-1 for the day and winning the Silver Division of the Plainfield North Invite.

The Sabres (4-1) defeated Roosevelt 25-15, 25-10, Geneva 25-17, 23-25, 25-23 and Homewood-Flossmoor 25-14, 25-10 while losing to the host school 26-24, 25-18.

Jonah Exline led the Sabres on the day with 35 kills and 87 digs. Phil Lewy, who had 20 kills in three matches, and Anthony Berrios also performed will for Streamwood.

At Hoffman Estates: Young Larkin, missing four players due to an academic trip, went 0-5 at the Hoffman Estates Invite over the weekend.

The Royals fell to West Chicago and Hoffman Estates on Friday and then Mundelein Saturday morning to complete pool play before losing to Palatine and Leyden in bracket play.

Eriberto Petayo (24 digs), Rudy Hernandez (27 assists, 15 digs), Abel Saenz (17 kills, 16 digs, 2 aces, 2 blocks), Steven Alvarado (21 assists, 5 digs, 2 kills), Rodrigo Tapia (13 kills, 6 digs) and Victor Vyleta (9 kills, 5 blocks, 3 digs) were Larkin's leaders in the tournament.
