Daily Herald report

Maine Township officials are encouraging residents to collect aluminum cans and bring them to a recycling event later this year, with proceeds to benefit the Maine Township Food Pantry.

A "cash for cans" event in September will support the pantry, which, in addition to the regular food donations it receives, also relies on financial contributions in order to purchase more food, Supervisor Carol Teschky said in a news release.
