EYSO hosts faculty benefit recital

The third annual Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra Faculty Benefit Recital was held Sunday at the Elgin Community College Arts Center to raise funds for the EYSO scholarship fund.

For the third time in its 38-year history, the EYSO faculty and Chamber Music Institute coaches took to the stage to perform together.

The EYSO regular season includes nine concerts at the Blizzard Theatre at ECC. In addition, the Chamber Music Institute performs each semester, the Brass Choir performs every spring, and the EYSO honors chamber ensembles - the Maud Powell String Quartet, the Sterling Brass Quintet, and the Hanson String Quartet perform - throughout the year.

EYSO auditions for 2014-15 will be held May 29 to June 1. Students who will begin fourth grade in the fall to college students can audition for a seat in one of the six ensembles. Applications and audition requirements are at eyso.org.
