Stevenson tops in own tourney
Palatine placed second and Wheeling was third in the girls water polo tournament hosted by Stevenson on Saturday.
The Patriots won with a 3-0 record, while Palatine finished 2-1 and Wheeling 1-2.
Stevenson topped the Pirates 13-6 in what turned out to be the decisive game behind 6 goals from Allison Travetto. Rachel Chumbook led the Pirates with 3 goals.
In Stevenson's 18-1 win over Whitney Young, Melissa Gartenberg had a team-high 5 goal for the Patriots.
Palatine picked up a 14-10 win against Wheeling, as Chumbook led the way with 7 goals.
In a 15-5 win over Whitney Young, Chumbook had 7 goals, Caroline Wojtas had 4 and Tess O'Brien 2.
Wheeling rolled past Whitney Young 14-7 behind 5 goals from Theresa Godlewski and 3 from Rachel Ropski.
In a 13-3 loss to Stevenson, Godlewski had all of Wheeling's goals while Travetto had 4 goals, Gartenberg 3 and Erin Kempers and Joanie Newland 2 each for the Patriots.
• Buffalo Grove finished 2-0 at Barrington on Saturday, edging St. Viator 9-8 and pulling out an 11-10 sudden victory decision against the host Fillies.
Sara Morosan and Bridget Whited had 3 goals apiece to lead the way against the Lions, and Whited and Rachel Rabs had 4 apiece against Barrington.
Barrington earned an 13-11 overtime win against St. Viator as Sam Gavars had 9 goals for the Fillies.
• Conant rolled up three more wins to take top honors in its own tournament Saturday.
Carmen Rosas had 5 goals and Angela Skittone had 4 in the closest game of the day, a 10-8 victory over Lane Tech.
In an 18-3 win over St. Charles East, Rosas had 6 goals and Skittone 5, and in a 14-2 win over Lake Forest, EmilyWeingart led the way with 4 goals.
