New principals named at two Dist. 200 elementary schools

Two Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 elementary schools will have new principals at the start of next school year.

On Wednesday, the District 200 board of education appointed Christine Frederick as principal of Pleasant Hill Elementary School in Winfield and Jeff Mitchem as principal at Lincoln Elementary School in Wheaton. Both will assume their roles on July 1.

For the past six years, Frederick has worked as an elementary school principal. She is currently the principal of Liberty Elementary School in Plainfield. Prior to her administrative positions she also taught in Plainfield School District 202.

Mitchem is the assistant principal at Pioneer Elementary School in Valley View School District 365U, which serves Romeoville and Bolingbrook. He previously worked as a teacher and dean of students in the Valley View district and Naperville Unit District 203.

Frederick will replace Kathy DeMarzo, who is retiring after working in District 200 for 23 years. Mitchem will take over for Heidi Fitch, who is moving to Minnesota after working in District 200 for three years.
