Metropolis adds Leon Redbone, other shows
The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights has recently added more shows to its 2014-15 season.
On the lineup:
• “The Merry Old Land of Lawz,” a touring comedy revue by The Chicago Bar Association at 8 p.m. Friday, May 9. $25.
• Sweet Pepprika, a female trio based upon the 1930s group The Boswell Sisters at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10. $25.
• Memorial Day Salute, a concert featuring students from Metropolis' School of the Performing Arts at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 24. $20; $15 veterans.
• “Men are from Mars — Women are from Venus Live,” a one-man comedy show inspired by John Gray's best-selling book at 8 p.m. Friday, June 20. $30-$35.
• An Evening with Leon Redbone, a jazz and blues concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 21. $40-$45.
• “Laughin' it up with the Looney Lutherans,” a family-friendly comedy revue tied to a cookbook promotion at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22. $25.
• “Hebrew School Dropout,” a comedy show starring Dave Konig about his career in show business at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26. $25.
• The Four Freshmen, a jazzy concert of four-part male harmony at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28. $40-$45.
The Metropolis is also offering a concert series of contemporary Christian music with a 20 percent discount for those who buy all three shows:
• Chris August, famed for his hit song “Starry Night,” performs at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 21. $20.
• Meredith Andrews, a multiple Dove Award-winner, performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 30. $25.
• Love and the Outcome, a husband-and-wife duo of Jodi King and Chris Rademaker, perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1. $20.
