A reputed street gang member has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for his part in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old Chicago boy as he played basketball in a park.
The Cook County state's attorney's office says 21-year-old Jamal Streeter was sentenced Monday.
Earlier this month, the same county judge imposed a 50-year prison sentence on 24-year-old Aramis Beachem for his role in the shooting of Darius Brown.
Both men were convicted of first-degree murder in January.
Prosecutors say they drove up to the South Side park on August 3, 2011, intending to shoot at members of a rival faction of a street gang. They say nine shots were fired and one bullet struck Brown in the back.
A third defendant is awaiting trial.
