Ballerina Misty Copeland shares her story in Naperville

World-renowned ballerina Misty Copeland comes to share her latest book, "Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina," at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Anderson's Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave., Naperville.

To receive a priority number, fans must purchase the author's new book from Anderson's to hold their place in the signing line.

In her memoir, Copeland reveals her inspiring and, at times, heartbreaking journey to become the third African-American soloist in the history of the American Ballet Theatre.

"Life in Motion" is a multilayered memoir that transcends the boundaries of the traditional ballet biography - it's not just a ballerina's story, but instead a unique American story of perseverance and achievements in the face of adversity by an author who is truly one of a kind. Her memoir is a story of passion and grace for anyone who has dared to dream of a different life.

Copeland was the third African-American ballerina at the American Ballet Theatre and the first one in decades. She is a recipient of the Leonore Annenberg Fellowship in the Arts and an inductee into the Boys and Girls Club Alumni Hall of Fame, as well as the National Youth of the Year Ambassador of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Copeland was recently honored at BET's 2013 Black Girls Rock! with the Young, Gifted and Black Award. Copeland lives in New York City. She may be visited online at MistyCopeland.com or on Twitter, @mistyonpointe.
