Body found in Chicago drain pipe identified

Chicago authorities have determined a woman's body found in a drain pipe on the city's South Side is that of a woman who was reported missing more than two years ago.

The Cook County medical examiner's office on Friday identified the body of that of 30-year-old Latasha Nevitt.

Nevitt's decomposing body, wrapped in plastic, was discovered Wednesday by Chicago Water Department workers less than 100 feet from the house where Nevitt lived with her husband and three children. The crew was at the location to shut off a valve to work on a nearby water main.

The woman's husband, Isaac Nevitt, said the woman was last seen October 15, 2011, walking to a convenience store.

Authorities said an autopsy to determine the cause of the woman's death was inconclusive.
