Indiana picks 4 teams to bid for Illiana highway
MUNSTER, Ind. - Indiana has chosen four teams to bid on building and operating the Indiana portion of the Illiana Expressway.
The Indiana Department of Transportation said Monday the four can submit final bids when the state issues a formal request this summer. The proposed $1.5 billion expressway linking Interstate 65 near Lowell with I-55 south of Chicago still needs federal approvals.
The (Munster) Times reports the teams are Indiana Corridor Transportation Group, Illiana East Mobility Partners, Isolux Infrastructure Netherlands B.V., and WM Indiana-Illiana Partners LLC.
Isolux Infrastructure Netherlands is INDOT's preliminary choice to construct a portion of the I-69 extension from Bloomington to just south of Martinsville. Cintra Infraestructuras, the leader of the Illiana East team, is the controlling partner and operator of the Indiana Toll Road and the Chicago Skyway.
