Glen Crest Musicians Score First Places at IGSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest

Glen Crest Middle School Symphonic Band Director, Katrina Berry, announced the results of the Illinois Grade School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Westfield Middle School in Bloomingdale on Saturday, February 22. Division 1 rating (perfect scores) (1st place) were awarded to the following Glen Crest and Briar Glen Elementary School students:

Solos: Emma Jones - horn (8th grade), Livio Valli - tuba (7th grade), Lily Feisenthal - flute (8th grade), Stefan Loest - alto sax (5th grade - Briar Glen Elementary School) Stefan re-

ceived a 1+ rating for having his solo memorized.

Division 1 rating (1st place) were won by the following: Solos: Erin Mote - oboe (5th grade - Westfield Elementary School), Andres Tapia baritone (8th grade), Elizabeth Musto - trumpet (7th grade), Niko Tselikis - trumpet (7th grade), Nicole Kain, flute (7th grade), Jennifer Yarosz , clarinet (6th grade), Sarah Smalley, clarinet (6th grade).

Ensemble Division 1 rating (1st place) were awarded to the clarinet duet of Sarah Smalley and Ali Salt. The clarinet trio of Sarah Smalley, Ali Salt and Jennifer Yarosz, all 6th graders won a Division 1 rating as well.
