Teen shot dead at Illinois State trooper's home

STERLING, Ill. - A teenage boy has been killed in what officials called an "accidental shooting" at the home of Illinois State Police trooper.

State Police Lt. Victor Markowski, the interim commander for Zone 2 investigations, says the shooting involved two teenagers an occurred about 11:40 a.m. He says that one teen who was not related to the trooper's family suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Markowski declined to identify the teens, give their exact ages or provide further details on the shooting. He says the investigation was ongoing and that no more information would be available until Monday.

The Daily Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/1fza78O) that Markowski says the investigation is not being treated any differently than normal despite the trooper's apparent involvement.
