Search on for new director of Illinois DCFS agency
An official in Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn's administration says a national search is underway to find the next head of the Department of Children and Family Services.
Quinn spokeswoman Brooke Anderson says the search was launched after Arthur Bishop submitted a resignation letter after a month on the job.
Bishop became embroiled in controversy after the Chicago Sun-Times and WBEZ radio revealed he faced a felony theft charge in 1995. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, which he says was to end the strain on his family.
In his resignation letter, Bishop said the controversy could serve as a distraction for Quinn, who is in the midst of a re-election fight.
Attorney and social worker Bobbie M. Gregg has been named acting director of DCFS.
