Firefighters backing St. Baldrick's:

Members of the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods and Wheeling Professional Firefighters union locals are combining on a fundraiser to benefit children fighting cancer. As part of a St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser, the firefighters are recruiting volunteers to shave their heads to stand in solidarity with the kids, who typically lose their hair from cancer treatments, in return for pledges of financial support. The shearing, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction and more will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at H.O.M.E. Bar, 1227 Rand Road in Arlington Heights. During the past five years, the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods and Wheeling firefighters have had more than 400 heads shaved and collected about $198,000 in donations. To donate, visit stbaldricks.org and click "Events" and search for No. 1796, or for more information contact organizers Adam Gambro at (847) 833-6509 or Michael Vitale at (847) 877-2815.
