Rutherford: 'I have not seen the report'

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford (ROOTH'-ur-furd) says he has not read an investigation into an employee's allegations of sexual harassment and pressure to perform campaign work on state time.

The GOP candidate for governor tells Lee Enterprises Newspapers' Springfield bureau (http://bit.ly/1eBsjIA ) that he does not know if he will read the review.

His spokeswoman says the report went to the treasurer's inspector general and would not be public.

An ex-employee filed a federal lawsuit last week that said Rutherford harassed him sexually and had him do political work on taxpayer time.

Rutherford hired investigators and said he would make their review public.

But his attorney said Thursday the report must stay secret because of federal court rules.

Rutherford has no plans to drop out of the four-way Republican primary race.
