If yes, please explain: No.Questions Answers How would you streamline your office's duties to save the state money?First, I would convert all paper files into electronic records, and would implement a paperless office policy. Second, I would utilize cloud computing in order to minimize the costs of office computing. Cloud computing allows for the use of computers, such as a Google Chromebook, that do not require extensive hard drives. Employees could access case files anywhere there is a wireless signal. Finally, I would lay off many in-house staff attorneys, and would utilize outside counsel and support services to facilitate cost effective litigation. Any in-house staff would operate as general counsel much like a corporation. What is something the office could be doing now that it isn't?The current attorney general is not doing her job to put pressure on county state's attorneys to investigate political corruption. I find it embarrassing that the federal government has to come in to investigate our corrupt political officials. The Illinois Attorney General Act requires that the attorney general "investigate alleged violations of the statutes which the Attorney General has a duty to enforce and to conduct other investigations in connection with assisting in the prosecution of a criminal offense at the request of a State's Attorney." This is not happening with our current attorney general. What in your background makes you qualified for a specialized office like this?I have been a self-employed attorney since late 2009. I pay a lot of taxes as a self-employed individual, and know that many others in our state do the same. I understand the importance of being frugal with tax payer money. Through my business dealings I make every effort to save money by implementing office technology, and by utilizing outside counsel and support services to help facilitate my business. I also have ample experience both in a legal office and in the courtroom through my practice.Should the attorney general be involved in looking into wrongdoing of public officials?Absolutely. The attorney general has an obligation to do so under the Illinois Attorney General Act. Illinois does not to be a continuing embarrassment in the eyes of the nation because it cannot crack down on its corrupt politicians. What would you support to encourage more open government?First, I support the ballot measure to amend the Illinois Constitution to establish term limits. Serving the public as an elected official should not be a career. Furthermore, elected officials should only make just enough money to pay for their trips to Springfield to legislate, and should not be allowed pensions. Take these carrots away and you will only have well meaning and civic minded people who want to run for office. This will encourage more openness because there will be no people in office who are in it for the money and clout. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?First, the Attorney General's office needs to cut costs. Our state is in dire financial condition. If elected I will come in under budget every year. Second, I will be the enemy of every corrupt politician in Illinois. They will dislike me because I will expose them as dishonest cheats. Finally, I will actually fulfill my duties as required by the Illinois Attorney General Act.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Rep. Justin Amash, U.S. Congress, Michigan 3rd District. He is a principled leader in Congress who tried to stand up to the NSA machine. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Freedom comes from self-sufficiency not by depending on others (family, friends, the government) for help. My family was not rich, but we had our pride. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would have tried out for the baseball team during my freshman year of high school. Baseball was my first love as a kid. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Social Sciences were always an interest of mine growing up. By studying history, geography, archeology etc. I learned to think in a broad minded way.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Never, ever give up.
