Editorial missed mark on corporate taxes
Your Feb. 2 editorial on Speaker Michael Madigan’s proposal to cut corporate taxes shows that the speaker continues to do great harm to Illinois while getting public endorsements like yours, which is a shame. That’s just part of how he maintains power and benefits from it, while most of the people of Illinois lose. Remember, he was the one who led our current version of pension reform and what has that really achieved?
The notion that this tax cut is or even could be a positive incremental step is unfortunately naive and inconsistent with your usual clear-eyed analysis. You would better serve your readers by bringing a more skeptical eye to this type of proposal.
